How to Put Automation Engines in BeamNG Cars
Automation engines are a great way to add more variety and realism to your BeamNG cars. They allow you to create engines with different configurations and power outputs, so you can fine-tune your car to your liking. In this guide, I’ll show you how to put automation engines in BeamNG cars.
Prerequisites
Before you start, you’ll need the following:
* A copy of BeamNG.drive
* The Automation game
* The Automation to BeamNG Converter tool
Exporting an Engine from Automation
The first step is to export an engine from Automation. To do this, open Automation and create a new engine. Once you’re happy with your engine, click on the “File” menu and select “Export”. In the “Export” dialog box, select the “BeamNG” format and click “OK”.
Converting the Engine to BeamNG Format
Once you’ve exported the engine from Automation, you need to convert it to BeamNG format. To do this, open the Automation to BeamNG Converter tool. In the “Input File” field, browse to the engine file you exported from Automation. In the “Output File” field, browse to the location where you want to save the converted engine file. Click on the “Convert” button to start the conversion process.
Installing the Engine in BeamNG
Once the engine has been converted, you can install it in BeamNG. To do this, open BeamNG and go to the “Vehicles” tab. Click on the “Add” button and select the “Vehicle Mod” option. In the “Vehicle Mod” dialog box, browse to the converted engine file and click “OK”.
Testing the Engine
Once the engine has been installed, you can test it out by spawning a car with the engine installed. To do this, go to the “Freeroam” tab and select the car you want to spawn. Click on the “Spawn” button to spawn the car.
Once the car has been spawned, press the “Enter” key to enter the car. You can now drive the car and test out the new engine.
Conclusion
That’s all there is to it! By following the steps in this guide, you can easily put automation engines in BeamNG cars. This is a great way to add more variety and realism to your BeamNG cars, so be sure to give it a try.
Experimental Automation Engine Swaps for Every Vehicle 2
I’ve tested this with 4WD, and FWD, not every solution is perfect, and strange exhausts can have lots of leaks. It’s the price to pay if you want an universal mod that’s “quite easy” to use for beginners. If you’re new to modding. I suggest keeping a backup so you can start fresh.
INSTRUCTIONS–
Export your car with the “car name” set to the zip file name of the car you want it for, or common (doing either of these will make your car not-shareable on the repo). Or have this mod unpacked, then drag basically everything except the lua folder from your exported automation mod into the common directory in this mod (common makes it usable for every car). I’d suggest clearing out mods when you’re not using them.
Now that you’ve prepped, start BeamNG, select your car, swap their engine for the automation mounts (ignore error), take out your automation exhaust (or it’ll flop on the ground), then;
1) leave their transmission in, take your automation transmission out
2) take their supplied transmission out, leave yours in. Change the transmission>drive type if one is available (mostly for only fwd cars), or transmission>drive type>driveshafts to “4WD driveshafts”, and put in whatever diffs you want, then make sure the car doesn’t already have those diffs, and replace the spindles if needed (almost always needed).
the finishing touches explain a lot more in the second half of this brief stream – https://youtube.com/live/VqliO5_Ielg?feature=share
Keep in mind that if you drag files from your mod into this one, you should keep the automation mod active in the mods manager too, or be sure to also drag the “art” folder too, to the root directory of this mod.
If you can’t find the car name of the zip you want to modify, spawn it in beamng>ctrl+w>save&load>open user configurations folder. That folder is the name you want.
If you want to support me, all I ask is that you check out my channel, and the videos related to these projects. This was the first video, and I thought I’d finish quickly. over 2 years later, and we’re finally done –
