Medtronic 24960A User Manual

MyCareLink Heart‪™‬ 4+

The app works ok overall as far as I know, I always have it on and open and my internet works fine. But I’m a little worried about accuracy since this app hasn’t been updated even though Apple is constantly sending out new iPhone updates with security updates. I only bothered to check if this app had been updated recently because as another user stated , I’m only on the newest iOS software with a newer iPhone, (iOS 17) and this evening I had a notification saying that the “system” was “currently unavailable” due to certain parts of the app not being available due to a Medtronic network issue. “ Effectively telling me that it can’t connect to Medtronic.
I’m not particularly impressed with this since my electrophysiology team are getting readings that are unusual … I’m now questioning if the readings are accurate , or if there’s possibly an issue with how things are being transmitted…
This needs to be fixed asap.

Does not disclose what it tracks

Prior to my pacemaker being install, I was told I would need a new app to remote monitor. The Medtronic representative did not know much about the app. And you could not preview the app prior to connecting it to your new pacemaker. I would not have gotten this pacemaker. Had I known how intrusive this app is. It tracks your physical activity without permission nor did the Metronic phone rep know exactly what they have other than the number of steps you taken a day based on your phone. So do they know where I’ve been? Do they know where my phones been are they tracking me through the pacemaker and just not saying it? Ask permission to your location. It does not ask permission to connect to your health app. Apparently there is no way to turn off the physical activity portion to the app. It’s a gross invasion of privacy. And it’s not like any of this is disclosed. There is no way to know what information it is harvesting off your pacemaker or phone. Also there is no way to turn any of the features off.

Spoke with another rep: they have no clue how or what data is being collected. they don’t feel like they have to disclose what they are tracking.

Switched to the bedside monitor. Delete app and attempt to find out what data my pacemaker is collecting for free

iPhone 15/ios17

This app worked fine under my older, iPhone 14 and iOS 16. However it seems to work differently now that I have the new phone with the new iOS. The blue green line that normally moves back-and-forth sometimes shows up often does not show up the update time which used to be always very frequent within the last few minutes now sometimes is 30 or 40 minutes behindand the phone is with me and hasn’t changed location. It’s close to the pacemaker and I work from home and I know the Internet’s been fine. I always see the active there so I it says it’s active but I don’t see the blue and green line and we don’t know we see the updated time when I called in for support. They said that the app doesn’t work with iOS 17 yet. Really??

3 What is the MyCareLink Relay home communicator?

The MyCareLink Relay home communicator is an electronic device that transfers information between your implanted heart device and the Medtronic CareLink™ network (an Internet-based secure server). The communicator allows your doctor to manage your care remotely.

The communicator is designed to connect wirelessly to your implanted heart device automatically when your implanted heart device is within range of the communicator.

The communicator transmits your implanted heart device information to the Medtronic CareLink network using a cellular phone network (by default) or through your home WiFi network (optional setup). For instructions on how to connect the communicator to WiFi, see Chapter 5, “Optional: Connecting the communicator to WiFi”, page 10.
