Hot/Cold Water Dispenser Taste
In the event of a bad taste or odor in the water, follow the steps below to clean the separator:
- Remove the bottle.
- Drain the unit (Refer to your owner’s manual)
- Remove the support collar (Part 1 on the parts diagram in the manual) by turning 1/8 counterclockwise.
- Remove the plastic separator (Part 2) by pulling straight up; you may need to wiggle or twist the separator a little to get it out.
- Place the separator in the dishwasher, or wash with dishwashing detergent and hot water.
- Reinstall by firmly inserting the separator back onto the metal plug at the bottom of the tank; again you may need to wiggle or twist the separator a little to reinstall it.
- Reinstall the collar by turning 1/8 turn clockwise.
- Reinstall the bottle.
- Make sure to press and hold the hot water button until the water dispenses to refill the tank.
We would also recommend sanitizing the unit at this time. See steps below:
- Mix 1 capful of chlorine bleach in 1 gallon of warm water.
- With the dispenser still unplugged, pour the water and bleach solution through the opening at the top of the dispenser.
- Dispense both hot and cold water by pressing the hot and cold water buttons on the front of the dispenser until the bleach solution has been flushed through the system completely.
- Repeat using fresh clean water to rinse unit out completely.
- Drain the dispenser following the directions in your owner’s manual.
- Load bottled water as directed, being sure to press the hot button until all the air has been bled from the lines.
- Plug in the dispenser and turn it on.
